Answer
Hello,
I'm not sure whether you are already on the Primal Diet or not, but here goes. The two main problems with being overweight are first to do with eating a high-carbohydrate diet or in not doing enough exerise. I practise a 95-100% raw, organic Palaeolithic diet, which involves eating only raw (organic/wild) animal products, such as raw liver, raw kidney etc., but excluding raw milk - if I increase my carbohydrate intake  to 10% or more, I instantly start putting on weight. The reason for this is that the body is not evolutionarily designed to eat carbohydrates, so we don't get signals quickly enough to tell us to feel full and to stop eating. When we eat protein(and fat best of all) our bodies get a full-feeling sensation much faster, and we stop eating. Also carbohydrates encourage the body to produce insulin which encourages fat to be stored by the body. In addition, eating protein and fat makes the body's meatbolism much faster which means the food gets broken down quicker and your belly won't get bigger as a result. Try also to eat small mouthfuls at a time.Bodybuilders do that often to avoid the stomach being stretched.
Lastly, when it comes to exercise, the gym is, in my experience, never as good as exercise outdoors(except perhaps weightlifting). I find that hiking in the mountains with a heavy rucksack does the trick for me. However,if you have no option but to resort to a gym or somesuch, I would recommend using a "Swiss ball", which is just a giant inflated ball on which you can do sit-ups. Doing stomach exercises without the swiss ball is MUCH less effective.
Just in case, you are not a Primal  or Palaeolithic Dieter, I would like to recommend "The Recipe for Living Without Disease" by Aajonus Vonderplanitz(via amazon.com), if you'd like further reading. Also look at www.rawpaleodiet.org and "The Naive Vegetarian).
Hope This Helps!
