What about raw bacon?

Question
Hi Geoff,

Thank you for your fast answer last week! I have another one!

What do you think about organic bacon. I know that usally they added nitrate which is bad and most of the time they smoke it. What if I can find raw bacon without the nitrate and other chemicals? Would it be ok to eat that. I am looking to add more raw fat to my diet and bacon contain lots of fat. I eat lots of organic free range eggs like a dozen a day for my fat.

Answer
Well, bacon according to the dictionary definition is "salted and smoked meat from the back and sides of a hog", so I would say that it's  better to just eat raw pork instead. If you should be lucky enough to find bacon that's raw(not smoked/cured) not filled with sodium nitrate etc., then it should be fine - although I usually find that truly genuine raw bacon is only got direct from farmers, and is usually way too heavily oversalted, even then.

Re raw eggs:- Aajonus Vonderplanitz in his 2nd book states that eggs are a great source of energy but that they're not so good for rebuilding cells re egg protein etc. -I'd have to agree. I experimented a lot in the first few months  of my rawpalaeo diet, and ate only (or mostly) raw, (organic,free-range) duck/chicken/goose/pheasant eggs  for weeks at a time, and I found that my health improvement slowed down considerably (though it didn't drop). I guess, what I'm saying here is that it's a good idea to get raw fats from all sorts of different sources, not just mainly from raw eggs. How about trying out raw (organic or wild)bone-marrow at a later stage? Many people find that an excellent, tasty source of raw fat, myself included. Others find raw suet(kidney fat) or raw  fat (from grass-finished cows) to be an excellent alternative choice, though I'm personally not keen on them re taste. And, of course, any other raw innards/organ-meats will do, though, apart from brain, they have a much lower fat-content than the ones I mentioned earlier.
