(dont ask.) anyway, thanks.

Answer
A vacation is exciting and it's good to come up with a plan ahead of time.  I would recommend to make your goal to MAINTAIN, don't try to lose weight that week.

1. Drink a lot of water 1-2 liters a day.  This way you will retain less fluid from the salty restaurant food and possible alcohol consumption.

2. I would keep breakfasts simple: cereal and milk, fruit and an English muffin, toast with 1 egg.  Anything that is bacon, pancakes, sausage, omelettes pack A TON of calories.

3.  For lunch and dinner, generally restaurants serve twice as much food as we need (especially when on a diet).  If you ever feel REALLY stuck, only eat half.  You can even ask for an extra plate to "split-up" your meal.  Some good choices for lunch are: a) grilled chicken sandwich (hold the mayo, butter, cheese), b) salad with meat (shrimp, beef, chicken) with dressing on the side, c) pasta salad with tuna or salmon(again eat half or ask for a half order).  for dinner: a) any meat (not fried) with just vegetables (hold the pasta, rice, potato or bread) - this is a good choice if your lunch was a larger meal.
b) grilled meat, white or wild rice (WAY better than pasta or bread) with a ton of steamed vegetable.

Things to really watch out for are sauces, butter on vegetable, dressings on salad, condiments on sandwiches, and french fries!

If one night you really want a higher calorie meal ex: a steak.  Eat only a light salad (with meat or a a starch!) for lunch.

It can be tough, but try to get in your fruit and milk servings as well.

I'm not sure where you are going, but the more exercise you can get on this vacation too will keep you from gaining weight.

I am sorry this is written a little scattered.  Please write me back if you have any follow up questions or if you need clarification.

Have a great holiday!!!!
