raw meat and injury

Question
QUESTION: Dear Sir,
does raw food heal muscle strain?  I strained my GI tract/stomach a year and half ago.  I took a supplement that expanded (way too much for someone my size) as suggested.  What caused the strain though was the way it was treated.  Instead of liquifying it, the doctor had me put castor oil on my stomach. This so much strain on me and took eight days to finally eliminate!  It was so bad, I could hardly breathe.
Results-- couldn't walk, talk or lift small things with massive pain.  Bedridden for three months and finally healed after nine months, to my big relief.
Thought it was completely healed, but 11 months later the symptoms (only the pain/strain, not the bloating, inflammation, etc.) returned as if the entire front were still strained.
My question-- do you think raw meat could help to heal this completely?  I don't know if it is intesinal muscle or abdominal muscle.  But I do know my intestinal wall felt as if it actually collapsed at one point. (no exaggerating)
Also, where do you get your meat, and do you grind yourself or have the meat people do it at the market?  I can get organic, grassfed meat here.
Thank you in advanced for your kind response.

Michelle

ANSWER: You mentioned in your feedback comments that you were going to return to drinking raw dairy. That is a very bad idea, especially since the raw dairy caused you so much trouble the last time(and it will again if you resume with it). Raw dairy is generally even worse for people with digestive problems given leaky gut syndrome etc. Just ditch the dairy. You didn't mention about specific foods other than meats in your answer, which is why I didn't address this issue in my past answer to you.

Also read all the posts on the various forums. Aajonus' Primal Diet does have some good things about it, but there are a lot of problems/side-ffects related to it, such that those people who do well with raw animal foods almost always have to make major changes to Aajonus' usual recommendations. That intro/link I gave you in my previous answer will cover most of these issues.

Follow-Up To:-
Yes, a rawpalaeo diet can help heal muscle-strain. Don't expect instant relief as it takes months for general symptoms of ill-health to improve etc. Given the issues re the digestive tract, it would be well worth getting hold of a high-quality probiotic or enzyme supplement in addition to eating raw meats(ask on rawpaleoforum or the rawpaleodiet yahoo group to find out which product-supplements are usually recommended).

I get my meats from farmers' markets(mostly meat from wild animals or grassfed meats). Most Rawpalaeos order meat direct from farms to their door. I don't grind the meats as I consider it a bad idea(leaves raw meat prone to oxidation), I just eat them as they are, cutting them with a meat-knife. When I first started, though, I would order some ground meat from organic butchers/farmers etc.

Also go in for raw organ-meats and a little raw fruit.

In situations like this it's best to get advice from as many people as possible. Here's a preliminary standard piece of advice for newbies to the diet, but you should look at both of the abovementioned forums for full info:-

QUESTION: dear Geoff,
You are right.  the only thing I was thinking raw dairy for was for Kefir and natural form of Probiotic.
Otherwise, my problem with too much dairy is why I didn't do well on Primal Diet, I couldn't digest it, due to my lactose-interolerance.  I just realized today that Raw-Paleo doesn't include dairy.  This diet, then seems more ideal for me.  What about eating raw Papaya or Papain for meat digestion?  I've heard this is best.
Thank you once again for your assistance.

regards,
Michelle
p.s. you can post my last email if you'd like, I don't remember if I checked the options box or not.  Thanks.

ANSWER: Raw papaya sounds OK, but you presumably can't eat it at every meal. Most RAF-newbies use EM(effective microorganisms) products for their bacteria:-
http://www.eminfo.info/

Long-term RAFers generally prefer using "high-meat" but it's best that you get used to eating fresh raw meat first. In my early days I would eat a lot of meats that I'd aged slightly fora few days, but this was an emergency measure as I'd, at the time, had severely weakened teeth from previous cooked/processed diets and a badly wrecked stomach due to adrenal burnout etc.

I'm not too familiar with enzymes/probiotic products as I don't need them personally,so you'll have to ask on the raw animal food/rawpaleo forums re enzyme products etc.,  but I've heard good things about this product:-

At any rate, the dairy should be ditched even as a probiotic, given your past issues.

QUESTION: I read not to post question with rating so thought to ask again.
Can I grind my meat, even if it oxidizes, since it is so hard to break down the meat fibers, even with a lot of chewing?

thanks,
Michelle

Answer
Juist experiment and see how it goes. I find I only need to chew once or twice for a split second before bolting it down, others like chewing for longer etc.

(It's better to ask another, separate question than to do follow-up questions - easier for me to read).

Re grinding:- Grinding isn't ideal , but when you're first starting this sort of diet it's a good idea to compromise until you can handle non-ground meat. So feel free to grind it, if you wish, for now.

(Most don't bother to chew much  but bolt down small pieces of meat).
