HiI am trying to loose...

Question
Hi

I am trying to loose some weight. I would not say that I am on a diet, just trying to eat healthy allong with exercise. However I am just wondering about olive oil. We only use olive oil when cooking, however I think olive oil is still fattening, whereas my husband tells me it is not and that it is good for you. Can you please clarify this matter?

Regards,

V錼in Eddy

Answer
As far as fat calories, olive oil is one of the better choices.  It is high in poyunsaturated fats and other "good" fats.  However, it is still 9 calories a gram.  Just because it's BETTER than other fats, doesn't mean it doesn't carry with it a fair number of calories. I agree that cooking with olive oil is better than other oils, but I would still suggest limiting your total fat/oil intake overall.
