need to gain weight

Question
Im a very thin guy (145 lbs) and would like to put on about 25 lbs. Gaining weight is extremely difficult for me, and I've been told that I need to shock my body by heavily overloading on calories (protiens and carbs), as well as work out. How many calories do you think I would need daily to start gaining weight fast? Would using that weight gaining powder stuff from GNC help? Thanks so much

Answer
Phil,
I cannot give you a calorie amount with having more specific information about you.  If you go back to some of my past questions I have answered ones on weight gain that may help you out.  Depending on the route you want to take you can use some supplemental aids though without knowing more about you I cannot safely recommend a specific product.

If you are concerned about your weight you should speak with your doctor and/or contact a dietitian in your area that you could work with one-on-one.
