add / nutrition

Question
I am looking for some at home help in starting to plan meals for my family. My son is at risk for add. I a looking to cover as much as I can to help him. I know that our diets could use help. From what I have read a high protein / low carbs is a step in the right direction. I need help in planning them.

Answer
Tammy,
The topic of diet modification and ADD is a very controversial topic at this point.  I have to admit that I don't normal work with children and therefore have not dealt with the specific topic of ADD and nutritional intake so am not up on the lastest findings.  My suggestion would be to find a dietitian in your area that does have some knowledge of this and can sit down with you and teach you how to modify your diet in the right direction.
You can find a dietitian in your area at www.eatright.org or you may want to ask your son's doctor to refer you to one!
Thank you,
