Hi Jo,

The Allexperts service has been acting very strangely.  What was your follow up question?

-George

IN my original  question about food labels, i didn't make it clear that I was talking abaout the portion of the label that lists the ingredients, rather than the part that talks about percent of daily requirements.

In the section where it lists the ingredients, it will often say something like: "ingredients: beef, potatoes, carrots, corn. Contains less than 2% of the following: wheat flour, peanut oil". Does that mean that wheat flour and peanut oil together make up a total of less than 2% of the ingredients or that each one is less than 2%? The former would be just a trace, while that latter could be a signficant amount.

Confused? I think I am too.

Thanks,

Jo

Answer
Dear Jo,

Sorry about the confusion.  When a label reads: "Contains less than 2% of the following" it means that it contains less then 2% of each ingredient.  In other words, there would only be a trace amount of each of these ingredients in that particular food product.  Hope this helps.  Happy New Year to you!
