Answer
Raja Fayyaz Al Hassan,

Lipids are the fats that carry cholesterol through our blood.  There are good lipid (HDL) and bad lipids (LDL).  For more information on lipids and cholesterol, go to: www.lipid-clinic.com

Changes in your diet can help lower cholesterol a little bit, but only about 5-15%.  Start by decreasing the amount of saturated fat you eat.  Saturated fats are from animal foods (meats, cheese, milk, etc.).  Also, you should decrease the amount of margarine and shortening you eat.  These contain trans-fatty acids.  Foods with margarine or shortening are cookies, cakes, fried foods, etc.  Saturated fats and trans-fatty acids stimulate the body to produce more cholesterol and LDL.  For more information on diet and cholesterol levels, go to: http://home.comcast.net/~lipid-clinic/diet.html

Lowering cholesterol that is over 300 will require a cholesterol lowering medicine, preferably a statin (Lipitor, Zocor, Pravachol, Mevacor).  You will need to talk with your doctor about starting a cholesterol lowering medicine.  For more information on cholesterol lowering medicines, go to: http://home.comcast.net/~lipid-clinic/medicines.html

Weight loss will require you to eat fewer calories and start a regular exercise program.  However, do not start an exercise program without talking to your doctor first!  You may want to start by just slightly reducing the portion sizes of your meals.  In other words, don't over eat and refer to the diet information I mentioned above.

Lastly, you should be able to talk with your doctor about getting more information on cholesterol and weight loss.

Best of luck.
