Help my hips!

Question
Kimberly,

I have been trying to lose weight and reshape my body for about 2 months.  I am 30 years old and am 5'9 and weigh 177 pounds.  I have felt the effects of having 2 children.  I have drastically improved my diet and run and walk daily.  I have lost about 15 pounds so far.  If you were to look at me from the waist up, you would think I was very slender.  My problem is my hips, thighs and butt.  It seems like I just can not loose in those areas.  Do you have any suggestions?  Thank you so much.

Answer
Amy,
Just stick with what you are doing!  You cannot lose fat from specific areas.  When you lose body fat you lose from all over.  You CAN tone the muscle in those areas, though you would need the help of a personal trainer for that.  Give it time, you have only been at this for 2 months.  It takes time to reshape your body and lose weight.
We all store fat differently and many times it is genetic.  When you look at your mother and/or grandmother, chances are they were shaped the same way that you are.  It doesn't mean you are stuck like that it just means that you have more fat in those areas so it may take longer to lose from those areas!
Good luck and keep up the GREAT work!!
