Questions regarding Atkins Diet

Question
Is this true: The more carbohydrate an individual consumes, the less body fat he or she will lose?

Also ... A person following the typical menu and eating foods containing just 20 grams of carbohydrates [per day] meets or exceeds the daily recommended allowance of most vitamins and minerals.

Answer
The basic truth is that too much food in general, whether it is carbs, fats or proteins can cause weight gain!!  If you consume more carbs than you need than yes, it will be difficult to lose body fat because you are probably getting too many calories.  But AGAIN, that goes for fat and protein too, not just carbs!!
Just 20 grams of carbs a day is NOT enough!  Carbs are in fruits, vegetables, starchs (including whole grains), and dairy products.  Only eating 20 grams of carbs a day will cut greatly into all of those food groups which will NOT create a healthy and well-balanced diet.
You just need to moderate the amount of starches you eat and make sure that at least half are from whole-grains!  You don't need to cut them out of your diet.  The Atkin's Diet is very unbalanced as far as nutrition goes!!  In addition it is difficult to stick with and is only a temporary solution to a lifelong problem!
