Hey, thanks so much for the inspiring words and the encouragement.  I am open to any and all info.  I love that there isn't a "sign on the dotted line" website that provides support.  The funny thing though about the diet pills is it did work for me.  Some years ago I gained the "comfortable weight" you get when you first get married or start a relationship so I saw a doctor every two weeks and he put me on Fasten and then Iomanin (spelling?).  This was after trying Jenny Craig which let me lose 15 lbs. then for three months I plateaued.  The pills permanently changed the way I saw food so I could make good choices. I lost 35 lbs. and kept it off until a doctor put me on a med that made me gain 10 lbs the first week!  There was no mention of weight gain by the doctor or on the info sheet.  Once I found out what was making me gain (I am on several meds), I stopped taking it 50 lbs. later and haven't been able to get it off since.  My savior doctor I saw after Jenny Craig had to retire for his heart so I haven't been able to get the right pills.  The gastric pacemaker was a possible solution because it would also solve my constipation problems which I was born with.  It has been a long frustrating road but thanks for the support.

Question -
I have gained weight due to medication and have not been able to lose it even with doctors help.  The Gastric Pacemaker is becoming known in my area and I was wondering if this would be a good idea.  I have constipation problems and this process is being used to eleviate that problem as well.  Also, I have tried Meridia, Xenical and Phentermine but I was wondering if the anti-smoking drug would work-zyban or there is another one listed.  There is a website www.constipation.com that provides quite a bit of info that I have a lot in common with.

I can understand the frustration of seemingly impossible to remove excess weight. I spent more than 30 years of my own life either dieting or exhibiting one eating disorder or another. I've been on the pills, powders, even injections, both doctor supervised and "health expert" advised. It's all a load of nonsense. Has it worked for you? That means, have you lost a significant amount of weight and kept it off for two years or more after going off whatever the diet or treament was?  Nearly 100% of all people answer "No!"  - so, it's nonsense. The weight loss industry takes in more than $40 BILLION dollars per year in America alone. They have no real motivation to make something that works.

The gastric pacemaker, along with stomach stapling and all the other more drastic forms of calorie intake control are reserved for the morbidly obese (100 lbs or more overweight) after intensive psychological profiling and usually takes 6 months to a year (or more) to get approved (by reputable m.d.'s); insurance companies are another story.

The website you refer to as having a lot in common with indicates you're just not eating what you should be eating and this is the #1 contributor to being overweight AND the symptoms you may have.

Look, no sales, no pitches, no nonsense....I DID it! It's really pretty easy although it goes against everything we think we know (diet industry garbage). I've outlined exactly how on my site (again, no sales, no signing in, no ulterior motives).
Follow the outline for a month. What's a month? You've been doing this for years right? One little month.

Ah'Ha ! Let's examine how we all have just come to accept that there's points in our lives (other than a woman who is pregnant) where weight gain is expected. The college kids call it "The freshman 15" (or 50 or 5, the number depends on who is talking). There's the after marriage weight, after 3 months dating weight (why 3 months? I don't know) and there's the break-up weight, the make-up weight, the after 25, after 30, after 35....there's an excuse for every pound and I've probably got some of my own no one's used yet! (Like I only SMELLED the doughnut and gained this! Or one of my stand-bys was how after I ate Chinese food, I gained 5 lbs - every time!)
  I love Chinese food!

Well, if we really, really changed our lifestyles - there's none of this. Our eating habits never change, so, there's no event in life (other than pregnancy or of course, in some cases, medications) that will significantly alter weight.
 
I know, I know...I can't tell you how much I honestly, from the heart of me, know how much easier it is to defend our lifestyle and reach for a 'reason' rather than make a change that we never 'go off' (like Jenny Craig or a diet pill).  It's the belief that the devil we know is better than the devil we don't.

I was long past my prime when I made my change and I am so sorry for all the years I lost trying 'other' things and using all the rationalizations - it's just so darn easy to do it right (I wish I knew then...)
