stuck 8-10 lbs

Question
hi, my name is Darlene, 40. recently i've been having a VERY difficult time losing my 8-10lbs of winter weight. i'm either blaming it on turning 40 OR being on(2mths) and then getting off prozac for pms control. i work out regularly, but not always consistently. i teach a 1 hr aerobic classs 2x wk. but after strictly following weight watchers AND logging my heart rate(avg 70-75%) for 2 weeks, u would think the weight would budge a lb or 2, at least some water weight. i'm thinking there's a problem. it really should've moved even a little. needless to say it's VERY discouraging, but some how i find the strength to keep moving. it's VERY depressing to say the least. when i THINK i lost a lb, i put my clothes on... and they are still tight. could just lay down and die at that point, which now effects my mood for the day. i try water pills, thinking it's excess water. as far as i'm concerned i've tried and i'm at my witts end. can u please help advise me. is there anything safe enough for short term use to jump start this weight loss and give me some hope?
thanks

Answer
Have you noticed any change in your appetite?? Maybe no appetite, along with less calorie intake and more exercise, and yet you still have not lost anything? You may want to ask your doctor if you can get your thyroid hormones checked. This is a simple blood test. When your thyroid gland is not functioning correctly you can sometimes have dysfunction of many organ systems. Have you noticed any other symptoms such as: cold intolerance, constipation, change in menses, or a general "slowing" of any other bodily systems/functions?

You might also try changing up your workout. Maybe your body has adjusted to the current type and intensity of your workout. Maybe you need to step up the intensity, or try some other type of crosstraining (i.e. elliptical trainer, stairmaster, running, swimming, etc.)

As far as diet goes. I suggest eating lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, and foods high in fiber. Try tos tay away from foods that have bleach, unbleached, or enriched white flour. Try to eat foods that are made 100% whole wheat or whole grain.

Hope this information helps.
