Hello I am looking to loose maybe 10 to 15 lb. off my waist. As I have grown older I have slowly put on a few pounds here and there I am 184 now and I have never weighed more. I generally don't gain wait easily. When I was young I could take any weight off. In the past the over the counter diet aid dextrim help a bit. It just kept me honest and helped me drop the few pounds.  now it is no longer available over the counter. I would like to know if is it still available by prescription or are other similar meds available and if so what are they.

Hi Kevin, I hope I can help clear a few things up for you and even save you lots of money!
1st, no one can lose weight in just one spot. When we lose weight, we lose fat from wherever those deposits have accumulated - and that's usually throughout the body.  By exercising, you might tone your waist area up, along with healthy diet, but if your family tends to carry weight in that area, you'll always find it's the first place to thicken up when you put on a few pounds.
2nd, forget the diet pills. NONE of them actually work. -0- Zip, nada, NONE of them. If it seemed you lost weight on those things, it was just because you were probably more aware of what you were eating and decreased calorie intake.  Also, these products might contain high amounts of caffeine which can decrease appetite a little. So can drinking two cups of coffee a day. It's no magic pill or secret cure.
ALL the small print to diet aids say you "MUST" decrease calorie intake and increase exercise in order for it to work. Well, guess what? You can take a couple of jellybeans instead of the pills - if you're decreasing calorie intake and increasing exercise, chances are you'll lose weight anyway!  These things are such rip-offs!

I've got a plan that really works - is totally FREE and the best part is that you never 'go off' it, so you'll have weight control forever! You can eat ANYTHING you want too!

Answer
Dexatrim is still available - but not with ephedrine in it. Ephedrine (MaHuang) is not legal for sale under any conditions anywhere I know of. It would be like using hemlock for weight control.  These days, the 'secret ingredient' in Dexatrim is green tea. You can a box of it for less than $3.00 in most stores, but if you really insist on buying a "diet product" and paying $30.00 for the same amount, Dexatrim has a site for gullible at Dexatrim.com

Best of luck
