amino acides

Question
i am 15 years old, going on 16. i ve been working out since i was 13 1/2. now im looking to get serious about it. i talked to several poeple in my gym and they suggested i start to take dietary supplements. they suggested i try BCAA (branch chained amino acides), V12, and gultamine. i was hopping if you could tell me if it was safe for me to start taking deitary supplements. if yes, can you please give me a logical explenation to convince my mom to let me take this.
thank you very much for your answer

Answer
Jeremy, you really have to check the packaging. Most companies will say it is not safe for growing teens because there are no studies done on them. Amino acids are protein. You can get good grade protein from lean meats, light tuna fish, and egg whites. Try to eat protein at every meal and that should be OK. In regards to the other supplements, again you should contact the companies or ask you doctor, but I'm sure the answer is no because of the lack of clinical studies. Laura Kraemer,Slimkids.com
