Question
Hi Susan -

My name is Jeremy, and I'm 24 years old.  In January of this year, I decided that I was just plain tired of being fat.  lol  I am 5'9" and at that time I weighed 220lbs.  I didn't look particularly fat to anyone, but when I looked at myself naked in the mirror, I wanted to just die!

Well, I became fixated on losing weight.  I kept calorie/fat/carb charts, and I had trouble finding a balanced mix of foods.  What I ended up doing was eating the exact same things over and over.  I would eat a fruit & yogurt parfait from McDonalds for breakfast, a sandwich and a bag of baked chips from Roly Poly for lunch, and a 6" sub from Subway for dinner.

That's great... I was eating about 1200 calories a day.  I ended up losing 50lbs, and have reached my lowest weight of 170lbs.  I'm starting to add a little exercise...walking....running on the treadmill....using the Boflex...., and am currently at 175lbs.

I feel great that I lost all that weight, and I can definitely tell... I dropped a shirt size, four inches from my pant size... my face is so much thinner.  But I have to say that eating "out" for every meal is terribly expensive.  I just don't know HOW to eat healthy without someone else making the food for me.

I need some help.  My goal weight is 150lbs, and I am stuck.  I'm tired of eating the same exact food for the same meals, day in and day out, every single day of my life!  Ahhhh!  I finally stopped doing it, and when I'm off of the routine, then I tend to cheat.  I don't want to gain anymore weight.  I want to LOSE more.

I don't want to take up all of your time, but do you have any suggestions of things I can have at home to save me some money and help add some variety to my life?  I do eat some Lean Cuisine/Smart Ones/etc, but they aren't very filling.  Any fruit/veggie/snack suggestions?  If I had something to snack on throughout the day, I'd be a lot more satisifed by the boxed meals.

I need some advice!  lol

Thanks soooooo much for your time, and any help you can send my way.  :)

Answer
Hi Jeremy,

5'9"? 150 pounds? I am concerned that your obsession of charts and bad eating habits has turned into an eating disorder.

White bread is not real food, it is packing material. If you are thinking of buying a packaged food, look at it. Are you looking at a what you are going to eat or a photo of what is supposed to be food? If it is a photo, put it back.
