mid section

Question
hello Dr. Manger,

I am a 19 year old male and a 2nd year student at UC Santa Barbara. I, like many others, suffered from the "freshman 15" but over this summer have lost about 20 pounds going from about 190 to 170.  Ive been eating alot less and going to the gym every other day lifting weights and am gettin some good muscle definition.

my problem is, I still have a bit of a gut.  I do ab workouts, run for about 15 minutes to and from the gym, and try to eat right.  I eat at the dining commons so dont have a huge selection. do you have any diet/exercise advise that may expidite my mid section toning?

thanks,
-RM

Answer
Rickey,

Congratulations on such a successful program already.  There is really nothing different I would add, except to continue a low saturated fat diet (as much as it is possible) and continue your regular exercise program.  Adding a bit more cardio type of exercises (running, swimming, etc) may burn more calories and slim your midsection down quicker, but I suspect it will come with time.

Best of luck,
