Hi, I am a 19 year old female...

Question
Hi, I am a 19 year old female and I am 136lbs. I have wanted to slim down my stomach and love handles for quite some time but I can't seem to stick with a routine. I don't know why. When I buy groceries I don't buy any junkfood, but then when I go to eat something I feel like there is no good food in my cupboards-so I either don't eat or I go to the convenience store on my corner for a quick fix. It is a terrible habit and I want to eat better but I can't seem to gather the willpower. Also, I started an exercise routine-it lasted for a week, and then I missed a day and never took it up again. I am in college full-time and I work part-time so I don't really have the money, time, energy to go to a gym a lot.
My question to you is. Do you have any advice on how I can get into a routine of eating better and exercising better so I can slim down my midsection (I want nice, toned abs)? I see people on TV and in magazines all the time who are way overweight and they do it, so why can't I?
I appreciate any advice. Thank You!

Answer
Hi Robyn,

Truth: almost everybody who signs up with a gym uses it a few times and forget about it.

There is not much in the way of good food that is kept in cupboards, it tends to be in the refridgerator, or maybe in a brown paper big getting ripe. Your notion of junk food needs a revamp. When you get what you need, you don't overeat, when you eat empty food, you stay hungry.  See http://www.premiumfuel.com for more on real food. When you eat what is worth eating, and leaves you feeling good  after eating, it is addictive.

Everyday, try to rack up a TOTAL of 30 minutes (a few minutes here and there is fine) of breathing hard, doing anything - walk fast, climb stairs, dance around, run in place while reading your email, anything. Do this 6 days a week. Once a week get 30 minutes all together and do non-stop, slow motion, resistance training, take 5 minutes to wear out each of 6 muscle groups. Truth: 5 situps that take 1 minute each, once a week, is more effective than 500 a day.

Also, Pilates is worth looking into.
