How effective are the fitness programs at all-women's gyms, like Curves? I've heard some people say they're great and others say they're ineefective. They seem to be really popular, though, so they muct be doing something right. What do you think? I'm not on any kind of exercise program right now and I was thinking about joining one.

I'm glad you asked! These things are as productive as the participant. If you join and GO, watch your eating at the same time, it'll likely work wonders. If you join and hate it, you're going to find reasons not to go, so it won't work.

Try this first: Every day, no matter what, either walk out your door and go for 10 minutes in one direction, then, turn around and spend 10 minutes coming back.  If the weather is poor, turn your music on, put some headphones on, whatever you have to do - to dance dance dance - for 20 minutes. Pick one, or the other and do it every day.

If you can't keep it up, don't look forward to it and start finding reasons not to do it - a membership elsewhere will be a total waste of money.
If you CAN keep it up (say, for three weeks), well, you don't NEED to join one of those programs - but, if you want to, chances are you'll do fine with it.
