hair turning reddish as supplement sideeffect

Question
Is there any possibility that taking large amounts of iron (or perhaps other supplements) can have the effect of making head hair gradually begin to turn reddish? Thank you for your kind help.

Answer
Taking large amounts of iron is not health or safe... especially in men (unless you have been told that you have iron deficiency anemia). Iron gives your blood the reddish color. And in aging, and leaky vessels in your legs, can cause discoloration of the skin. However, I am unaware of it causing your hair color to change. Possibly someone in your family has red hair and that gene has been passed down to you and it is just now presenting itself (kinf of like how some kids hair color gets lighter or darker as they get older).
