Skipping Lunch / Eating Brunch Instead

Question
I run a kitchen at a local camp and this year for snow camp we have decided to let the kids sleep in by offering a brunch @ 10 - 10:45am and then a supper @ 6pm....both meals are all you can eat and the brunch will consist of a great variety from all the food categories.....Supper will be a pasta dish with a salad etc....This is only happening on the Saturday....they are up late on the friday and then sleep in till 9am...back up on sunday @ 9 for another brunch and then they go home. Some of the other staff have expressed concern about whether this will meet their nutritional needs for the day as the activities are physical and they are 12-18 years old. I am just wondering if you can give me a little advice on this and tell me if this is really a bad thing to be doing.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Answer
Hello Ken!

Thank you for your nutrition question for the campers.  I don't really see a problem with skipping lunch on Saturday as long as you offer a midafternoon snack.  I would recommend fresh fruit, oatmeal bars, bagels or yogurt to help keep the campers nourished until their supper. It sounds like you are offering the campers a wide variety of foods to choose from.  Keep up the great work.  Happy Camping!  Hope this helps.
