ex- drinker wants to be an ex- chocolate eater

Question
i have not had a drink in 5 months 3 days and a few minutes. it wasn't a problem [no dui's or other incidents] it was just time to stop. since then i can't quit eating! i have had more fresh fruit bananas, pears, plums, oranges and peaches - than i have had in my entire life! and i love chocolate - can/t get enough. for a while i justified my new habit as better than the old one- but now i must take control! any suggestions as to a diet that may help my cravings and yet put me in the right direction?

Answer
Darryl,
Good for you for making such a great lifestyle change!  I think that if you balance out your diet more you may be able to curb the cravings!  Make sure you are including ALL of the food groups!  It is GREAT that you are eating fruit but sounds like between the fruit and the chocolate you have a real sweet tooth so you need to include other food groups as well.  Make sure you are eating lean meats, fruits, veggies, whole grains and low-fat or fat-free dairy products!  Take a look at www.mypyramid.gov to get an idea of what and how much to eat of each food group!!
