Answer
Hi Kris!

Thank you for your nutrition question. As a general rule, you should be drinking about 64 ounces of water  daily. This is about 6-8 glasses of water a day.
Water when dieting
There are at least four reasons why water is important when dieting.

Initial weight loss is largely the result of loss of water
This lost water needs replacing, to avoid dehydration.
The rate at which we burn calories (our metabolism) is a chemical process requiring water
We need adequate water to ensure the smooth functioning of this process.

Water helps to flush toxins out our system
The more toxins in our body the less capable it is of losing weight

Water helps to prevent constipation
Healthy dieting means eating lots of fiber. However, unless we drink enough water, a raised fiber-intake can cause constipation.
