dietician

Question
Can you tell me approximately what a registered dietician might charge to come out and help my family?  Obesity runs in our family and I have 2 small children.  I need their expertise but don't have alot of money.  Our insurance does not cover this.  Do you know about what they might charge?

Answer
Hi Michelle,

Fees for dietitian services vary quite a bit, depending on what area of the country you live in. For example, I am based out of Hamilton, ON (a mid-sized city) and charge $75.00 CDN for a one hour consultation, while in Toronto (a very large city with much higher cost of living) you could expect to pay double this or more.

The best thing for you to do is to contact one or more dietitians in your own area and compare their services and prices. You can find dietitians listed under "Dietitian" in the Yellow Pages, or search the listings at dietitians.ca (Canada) or eatright.org (US).

Hope that helps!
