food for energy, lean mass

Question
Hi,

I'm starting up a rigorous exercise regiment (weight training, some cardio) and I was wondering what would be a good diet schedule to enhance my energy level as well as build lean muscle mass.  For example, yogurt and bananas for breakfast . . . what else would be good for me?

Just some quick background info, in case this may be relevant: 26 year-old male, 5'9'', 150 lbs, no smoking, occassional drinking.

Thanks,
Luong

Answer
Hello Nguyen!

Thank you for your nutrition question. A great body building breakfast would consisit of oatmeal, blueberries, rasberries, hard boiled egg, and 6 oz glass of 100% grape juice.
I would also recommend that you visit www.mypyramid.gov where you can create a diet plan specifically to your nutrition needs.  All you do is enter your age, gender, and it will give you a menu that is at the calorie level which you should be eating.  This is a great resource!
