calories per pound

Question
I read somewhere the number of calories that cause a pound of weight gain. However, I can't seem to find this information. Can you help me?

Answer
Hello Patricia!

The amount of calories needed to gain one pound is 3,500.  In order to gain one pound in one week try adding 500 calories to your diet daily(500 x 7=3,500)  It is also vice versa for weight loss. Just subtract 500 calories daily in order to lose one pound weekly.
