Milk and tallness

Question
Hi,my name is alan and I am 16 years old. About 5months ago I started drinking 4glasses of milk each day. At that time I was 5'10'' and now I am about 2'' taller. I wanted to know if drinking milk was helpful or not. If so will I grow taller?

Answer
Hi Alan,

The biggest thing that affects your adult height is your genes. So, your parents'and grandparents' heights are a good indication of what your adult height is likely to be.

The milk itself didn't likely play a big factor in your recent growth, it's more likely that your increase in milk drinking just coincided with your body's natural growth spurt. Good nutrition certainly does play a factor in growth, but as long as you are eating a reasonably balanced diet with an adequate calorie intake, you should naturally reach your full growth potential.

Hope that helps!
