Question
which is better when dieting, to not eat at all between meals(when a hunger paine hits) or to eat something healthy, am I defeating my pourpose by eating when the pain hits,

Your best bet is to eat 6 small meals a day and try to keep hunger out of the equation!  It is when hunger hits that you tend to eat more than you should and not eat the right foods.  Eating 6 small meals a day, about every 3-4 hours depending on your schedule, keeps your blood sugar levels stable and keeps you from feeling hungry.  Of course those meals need to be from the food groups and consist of healthy, well-balanced foods.
