No will power...

Question
I am a 5  20 yr-old who is getting married in December.  I am currently about 145-150 and need drop some weight.  I have tried to get motivated in the past but always find an excuse or tell myself that today is not good, I ll do it tomorrow.  Do you have any suggestions on easy things that I could try (food and/or exercise)?

Answer
Hello Jennifer!

Thank you for your nutrition question.  One suggestion I would make is enlisting the help of a friend or family member to help get you motivated about eating healthier and getting more active.  This is way you can receive encouragement from someone other then yourself.  They might also be interested in losing a little weight and join you in a daily 30-60 minute walk. Studies show that people that have the support of others are more then likely to stick with healthier habits.
I would also suggest that you check out www.mypyramid.gov where you can create a healthy eating plan designed especially for your calorie needs and tastes. You simply enter your age, gender, and activity level and it will give you a healthy eating plan that you can follow. It is a great motivator because it would give you a plan to follow. Let me know if you have more questions.
