Carbs, Calories & Fat

Question
I am dieting and I am keeping a log of everything that I am eating.  I am getting discouraged because I am not losing. I am keeping a spreadsheet on how many calories, fat grams and carbs are in everything that I eat or drink.  I am 46 years of age, female & 229 lbs. I would like to know how many of each category I should strive to achieve each day.  I am also bicycling 5.5 miles a day & doing 200 sit-ups a day.  I had lost 10lbs. a year ago on Atkins & lost another 10 lbs. with Nutri-System, but now I have hit this plateau that I have been at for 2 months.  I am also drinking a gallon of water a day.  I am not using any or very little salt.
I would appreciat any ideas to get the ball rolling again.
Thank you,
Donna Carney

Answer
Dear Donna,

After losing on Atkins and plateauing, many of our clients succeeded when they started controlling protein intake. The matter is, Atkins left protein intake uncertain and almost 50% of it is being converted into carbohydrate. Thus, you in fact have more carbs than you thought.

It is also important to have more fat, better good fat, of course: oils, fatty cold water fish, nuts, seeds, and avocados.

I know it can be tricky but the best way is to keep the ratio carbs + protein to fats under control -- read why here:
