how can I break out of this cycle???

Question
Dear Susan,
I was reading your profile and it says that you consider emotional eating to be a sign that you aren't getting something you need. I would love to believe this is true. For years now, I've been violently craving sugar, and eating various forms in quantity when I am upset and stressed. I'm embarrassed about this problem, since I realize in my head how counterproductive this is. I am SICK of surviving, and desperatly want to thrive, especially since my field is violin performance and physical condition really matters in dealing with stress. The thing is, I can't break the cycle, though I've been trying for 5 years. What do you think I should do to get out of this horrible rut which is goofing with my system, my weight, my mind and my self-image?
Thanks so much for tolerating my whining.
Kate
PS. in case it helps to know, my other eating habits have been looked at by a doctor and are good. i'm young and otherwise in good health.

Answer
Hi Kate,

Whine away, girl, that is what I'm here for. BUT note how much power you are giving to what you hate. Claim that back!

Refined sugar has been clinically shown to be as addictive as nicotine and cocaine. It has been linked to a huge range of diseases, from bone loss, brain loss, athlete's foot to yeast infections. The nasty stuff starts a gyroscopic mineral difficiancy - one hour too much of something, next hour too little.

The sugar in raw fruit is a good thing. Switch to raw fruit and maybe dried fruit w/o additives. Some are not pretty, but they are tasty.

Good news about the Sugar Blues: get thru 30 days without, and you have arrived. The cravings go away.
