Worried

Question
I am always a great believer that people should be extremely careful of what they say about a subject like dieting because teenagers, especially girls, are likely to use these no good diets as an alternative to physically and mentally healthier diets.

Recently there has been a lot of stuff said about negative calorie foods and several people have mentioned cardboard as the only real negative calorie food always backed up by "maybe" or "but we wouldn't advise it" etc.  Now I believe that teenagers are entitled to the truth (I work with teenagers) so is it the case or not that cardboard is a negative calorie food (in other words you will loose weight by eating it)?

Answer
Hello Yihitska!

Thank you for your nutrition question. The negative calorie food theory is not a good diet for teenagers to follow. I agree with you that people should be extremely careful about what they say nutrition and dieting especially in front of girls. Teenagers today face so many self image problems that lead to eating disorders.  This is why I recommend Juice Plus gummies to my teen patients. They are made from fresh 17 different fruits and vegetables which are good for the healthy growth teenagers. The gummies are also a healthy snack that can help curb cravings for unhealthy foods.  The website where teenagers can have their parents purchase the Juice Plus gummies is www.juiceblend.com  Let me know if you have more questions.
