Trying to lose weight.

Question
Hi there, im Kenny, 24 years old and
14 stone 9 pounds = 205 pounds

Im trying to lose weight and get into shape, and most of my fat is round my stomach, i have skinny arms and legs, but more weight on my thighs and bum, however, ive recently had surgery (pilonidal sinus) and it restricts to me as to what i can do, so i was trying to cut down what i was eating and was wondering if you had any suggestions, im also trying to drink 2 litres of water a day.

For instance

Today i had

A quarter bowl of Muesli for Breakfast
3 slices of bread with 1 slice of meat on each slice of bread for lunch

A Banana in the afternoon,

I have yet to tackle dinner

Its a real struggle to stay away from Crisps etc,

What i really want to do is find some exercises that will not hurt my wound.

Sorry if this is long and complicated, but ive tried so many times to lose weight and failed!

Thanks

Kenny

Answer
Hi Kenny, I hope I can help. Perhaps the best advice I can offer is to first STOP dieting. As you've seen, they don't work and I find no reason to eliminate your crisps if they're an enjoyed treat. Obviously, forbidding yourself hasn't done any good right?

In examining your menu for the day, you'd do well to switch to whole grain oats and have a whole cup (cooked), plus a whole fruit (like the banana), one slice of whole grain toast with 1 teaspoon butter or jam.

Mid-morning, another whole piece of fruit (believe me this is important)

Lunch should be much less bread and lean meat or fish in a serving size equal to a deck of playing cards.  Load up on vegetables and legumes such as green beans, kidney beans, all dark leafy greens (salad), lentils, etc..  You'd be surprised at how well these things mix together. Dark leafy greens such as turnip tips or spinach with 1/2 cup of kidney beans/black beans/black eyed peas (pick one), a crumble of feta cheese and squeeze of lemon - oils aren't even necessary!

Add another fruit (1 cup of berries, melon, a whole orange, pear, banana, apple?)

Since you're doing so well it's time to enjoy some crisps! Just be sure to keep it to ONE 'serving'.

Mid-afternoon is time for another snack, such as a crumpet, toast, some cookies, whatever you like (again, just one serving).

Dinner should be similar to your lunch and you can have another serving of crisps if you'd like.

No - you can't save up these servings and have them all at once. You're re-training yourself to know control.  OK?

There's more about how to do this at my site (it's all free) - and once we address the food lifestyle alteration, the activity should take care of itself.
