needing high fat natural foods

Question
Hi- my 12 year old daughter has chosen a diet (beginning approx 6-9 months ago) of very "natural foods", and only a few at that.  She refuses most of her old diet.  No junk food/processed foods at all.  Though I applaud her conscious eating, as you know she NEEDS fat to continue to develop, esp. now in the beginning stages of puberty.   Almost no fats are making their way in.  We are seeing  counselor to keep an eye on her food behaviors, but for now - HELP us find high fat foods that are not junk.  (She doesn't like dairy either - and I can't believe I'm saying this but I may be forced to force Haagen Dazs Vanilla Bean on her soon.
She reluctantly eats a few almonds, doesn't like avocado.  I am able to get her to eat a handful of high fat granola cereal each day. If you know of any other options (or good ways to disguise the others) let us know.   We're at our wits end.

Thanks!
Linda

Answer
A "diet" is the worst thing she can be doing and you can tell her that someone who started at exactly her age - can promise her it will all fall apart and make things worse than she imagines they were to begin with.

Now, if she's living a more natural lifestyle - GOOD for her!  Join her!  It's a true improvement all around.

You're right about fats, but there are different types of fat and ANY fats from mammal sources really aren't necessary or good for anyone.
Tuna, salmon, other fish, nuts, avocado (how about guacomole?) ARE good sources.

I think she'll like my site - it explains about the necessity of fats and how to get them; also, how to better balance one's eating lifestyle (NO DIETS) and the hype behind the latest garbage promoted out there.

I'd put it all here, but honestly, just not enough room.

It's all free  www.GetTheReal.info

Let me know and tell her to feel to write to me either here or through my site.  I think both of your worlds can come together and work out for everyone ;)
