GI Index or GI Load

Question
Please let me know what is important GI Index or GI Load for hypoglycemic diet.
What should be the permissible levelof GI Load for hypo patients.

Answer
Both are important to understand as PART of the treatment for hypoglycemia.  GI talks about how quicky a specific food can effect blood sugar.  GL speaks more to the percentage of carb in a specific food.  It helps to establish portion size.  A food may have a high GI but not have a negative effect on blood sugar levels if the food has a low percentage of carb.

Hypothyroidism is a very individualized problem so you should speak with your doctor and/or a dietitian to find out what levels are right for YOU.
