negative calorie foods

Question
Dr. Ryan, thanks so much for your prompt answer before.  I wanted to know, however, I have done "negative Calorie" diets before, when I was still a smoker with wonderful success!  Both times I lost a lot of weight and was able to maintain weight after loss.  My concern is, now that my body is trying to recover from quitting smoking, should that diet still work for me?  I thought I read somewhere that lowcarb is good for post-smoking b/c of the pancreas and insulin or something like that.  I would really like to be on that diet as I enjoy my fruits and veggies but am terrified of trying it and gaining weight.  Physiologically, as a new non-smoker, is there any reason I should stay away from foods like watermelon, celery etc. as long as I am eating lean meats and veggies otherwise?  Thanks!

Answer
The negative calorie foods are just fine after quitting smoking.  In fact, the fiber can help you feel full and avoid extra munching, similar to what happens by drinking more water.

Watermelon and celery are both great foods that are high in water. So they help flush out the toxins from smoking but watermelon is high in sugar and that can cause some weight issues due to fluctuating your blood sugar level.

Thanks for the follow-up question, Callie.  I hope that my answer gave you some help.
