Healthy diet for an athletic person

Question
Hi. I am an athletic person who plays baseball and I have been working out a lot more than I use to in the past. My lifting weight program is working. I work 3 days a week and I try to run at least once a week. Here is more info on me. I am 18, I weight 220 pounds and I stand tall at 6'2. My question is what can I do to eat healthy? I know the most of the basics on no eating at fast food and I am cutting that out and pop drinks. What can of a diet would you suggest for me if I want to lose 20 pounds? Thank You!

Answer

Hi Mike,

First of all, you want to lose fat but spare your muscle mass, right? You' need to know your body fat percent. You might want to use one of free online body fat calculators:

Since your nutritional needs are demanding, spend some time on educational reading on athletic nutrition:

Hope it helps,
