Gap between meals and exercise

Question
Hi Jerry,

I was curious to know how much time gap is recommended between your meal and your exercise routine.
case 1. if you are going to exercise after breakfast. How much time after your breakfast ?
case 2. if you are going to exercise after lunch. How much time after your lunch ?
case 3. if you are going to exercise after dinner. How much time after your dinner ?

Also, I was wondering that how much time should one wait after the exercise and then eat something.
case 1. how much time should one wait after the exercise and have breakfast ?
case 2. how much time should one wait after the exercise and have lunch ?
case 3. how much time should one wait after the exercise and have dinner ?

thanks.

Anil

Answer
The waiting time after a meal before exercise depends on what you eat and how much, not whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner.  If you eat a bigger meal, you should wait a longer time.  So the answer ranges from 30 minutes to two hours after eating, depending on the type of food and the amount.

The same is true regarding eating after exercise in that it doesn't matter whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner.  I would recommend waiting thirty minutes for the body to cool down before eating after exercise.  That will help the blood move from the exercised muscles to the digestive system.

Thank you for your question, Anil. I hope that my answer was helpful.
