Its been a year...please help!

Question
My daughter is a year old and I am still left with the weight I gained during my pregnancy. I am short, only 5'2 and 170lbs!!! I gained 30 when I was pregnant and would like to get back to my previous weight (anywhere from 140-130). I have asthma (developed when I was pregnant) which seems to overreact when I exert myself. Are they any safe exercises for asthmatics? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Answer
The simplest exercise of all for asthmatics is walking. It's also very safe for practically everyone. Take an hour-long walk in the evening or a half-hour in the morning and another half-hour in the evening, whatever suits your schedule best.  It burns calories and will help you lose weight with the proper diet.

Weight loss is just burning more calories than you take in.  So, read your food labels to help avoid extra fats, sugars, and sodium.  Eat more fruit, more veggies, and more lean meat like fish and chicken.  Eat less red meat, processed foods, fried foods, and baked goods.  Eat smaller portions and eat more frequently (5-6 times a day.) Drink plenty of water because it helps burn fat.

All this is just a portion of the information that I teach in an 8-week online class on this subject.  The class is called 'The Answer's Right Under Your Nose' and it's available through the Personal Coaching section of my website at www.JerryRyanPhD.com.

Thanks for your question, Bridgette.  I hope that my answer was helpful.
