Eating all day....

Question
Hi, and thank you for the website. I work in a catering business and I eat all day. I usually only snack, but sometimes I can eat a large meal and be hungry an hour later. However, it seems as though I am always eating something. I also eat near bedtime. However, I do not seem to gain weight. Are there certain body types that can eat all day and not gain weight? Also, if I continue this habit will the weight catch up to me as I get older? Thank you very much. I'm  male, 26, 5'8, 150 lbs.

Answer
Andres,

The simple answer to your questions is yes, some people are protected against weight gain due to their genetics but this usually catches up to you as you age. So if you continue eat a lot you will probably gain weight eventually.

Also, realize that being overweight is just one marker of being unhealthy. If you don't eat healthy you can still degrade your health without gaining any weight. If you eat a lot of fat, sugar or simple carbs you are still creating damage that can predispose you to heart disease, diabetes, etc. later - even if your not gaining the weight now.

It's OK to eat all the time. In fact it's better to eat small meals often - as long as your are eating good stuff and not taking in a huge amount of calories.

Hope this helps.
