Height loss, age, weight

Question
How much height would you expect a 58 year old man who is 50 pounds overweight to lose since his peak height?

Answer
Height loss occurs in both men and women and may happen at a rate of about one centimeter or more lost for every decade of life after age 40.

One study showed that the average loss in height for men from age 30 to age 70 was about 1.2 inches.  At fifty-eight, I would estimate that your height loss, barring osteoporosis or advanced degenerative disc disease, would be somewhere between 3/4 and 1 inch.

Thank you for your question, James.  I hope that my answer was helpful.
