Learning to Eat

Question
I want to start to eat more healthy. I have been trying for a long time to lose weight and I am really ready this time. I have a goal of losing 10-15 pounds by September 22. I am just not exactly sure what I should eat. I know what I shouldn't eat, but what are some of the staple foods that I should always have on hand? What should I eat that will keep me satisfied and full?

Answer
Hi Erica,
Thank you greatly for your question.
I lost about 100 lbs. eating a low-carb eating program.  I do not count calories, and I eat as much as I want of:
eggs, meat, poultry, olive oil, ghee, butter, vegetables except potatoes, nuts, fish.  I eat very limited amounts of Eziekiel Bread.  I eat no artifical sweeteners, no fruit, no pasta, wheat, cakes, pastry.

I rely on ChocoPerfection (www.lowcarbspecialties.com) as my absolute favorite low carb snack.  I created this bar when I ate it to lose weight (even while eating at least 3 low carb meals a day) and I rely on SweetPerfection, at the same website.  SweetPerfection was recently metioned in Men's Health Magazine as the best sweetener on the planet.

Staple foods to have on hand for me are:
a) lots of nuts
b) ChocoPerfection
c) unsweetened yogurt to which I can add SweetPerfection
d) lunch meat and canola mayonnaise
e) carrots (either raw or cooked)

I also make a variety of low-carb treats using the recipes on the www.lowcarbspecialties.com

Enjoy the foods you eat... keep them low carb and natural.... you will lose weight.

Best,
Mary Jo
