losing weight with exercise alone

Question
Hi,
I am a 30 year old female. I am 5"11 and weigh 163 pounds.I recently lost 10 pounds by exercise alone.I exercise for 30 minutes first thing in the morning 5 days per week and occasionly walk and jog at least 2 days per week for about 20 minutes when time permits.I hate diets and although I have tried them all I can't stick to one.I would'nt say that I overeat, I eat 3 meals per day and snack on a yogurt smoothy in between meals, but it's hard to give up my southern food. I am really not happy with my belly fat and back fat and can't seem to lose the fat in these areas.I heard a rebounder would help me burn more calories and lose fat faster and I am planning to purchase one and use it after I get off my recumbent bike each weekday.I also have a total gym that I never use because i did'nt seem to see any results after 2 weeks and I quit using it. How long would it take for me to use a rebounder after 30 minutes on a recumbent bike to see my belly fat melt off? Do you have any exercise suggestions or plans using my equipment that you can provide to help me with my belly fat? Any easy to do diet tips would be great too.

Answer
Hello, thank you for your question.
Firstly I think that losing weight by exercise alone is the first step to failure, whilst exercise is a must when trying to lose weight it also helps you keep the weight off once you lose it.
Instead I would suggest that you look at your lifestyle now and see what smaller changes you could make to help you alter your diet, you say you enjoy your southern foods, do none of these offer lower fat alternatives or maybe you could just alter the portion sizes?
Instead of eating 3 main meals a day have 4-5 smaller meals (one of these can be your favourite foods - which has already decreased your portion amount). At least 2-3 of these meals should be fruit & vegetable rich, maybe one of the meals could be a box of chopped raw veg & a low fat dip - the veg is very low in fat & calories and will give a feeling of satiety if you eat them over a period of time - helping you resist the urge to pick.

As for the gym equipment that you've purchased, a good device for losing weight around the stomach which is often inexpensive would be an elliptical trainer, this is a low impact device that works the legs, stomach, arms and shoulders however I would suggest keeping at i for at least a month and before you begin, measure yourself with a tape measure - if you don't see the results immediately with the scales you might see them with the inches dropping off. An exercise ball can also help especially with exercises such as sit ups and other stomach toning techniques. The jogging you do is also a perfect way to lose the stomach fat - at least 20-25 minutes 2-3 times a week which is roughly what youre currently doing anyway.
I speak from personal experience when I say that these exercise techniques help with toning - I have recently over the last 6 months lost 7 stone which has left me with a lot of toning up to do! I visit the gym 5 days a week and go power walking and the results are encourging me onwards!

I would be very interested to hear how things go and if I can offer anymore advice please feel free to ask away!
