Question
Hi George,
How much is in a serving?  I understand we should be eating according to the food pyramid: 11-13 servings of brown rice, pasta etc. , 4-5 servings of fruit etc.  That is a lot of food for a day, is that equivalent of 11-13 small bowls of brown rice or pasta?  I eat 3 meals a day and a couple of fruits and veggie for snack in between.  No matter how I count, there is no way I can achieve the food pyramid.  Please advise.

Answer
Hello Jenny!

Thank you for your nutrition question. I agree that 11 servings of breads is far too much. You are refering to the USDA Food Pyramid which was very confusing to many people and has been replaced. I would recommend that you check out the new food pyramid at www.mypyramid.gov.  When you get to the site simply enter your age, gender, and activity level and it will give you a complete menu tailored to your calorie needs.  The new food pyramid is more individualized rather a one size fits all approach. Hope this helps!
