New Diet Plan

Question
Hi

I'd like to lose some weight from my legs and tummy. I just wanted to check, along with a work out plan (mini stepper)and arm weights, together with sit ups, if I lower my calorie intake to about 1000 a day will this be healthy in order to lose the extra weight?

I enjoy salads etc, but plan a diet of natural and flavoured low fat yoghurt, shredded wheat, crackers and brown bread, salad with spinach leaves, eggs and prawns for snacks, will this be a suitable diet?

Id be grateful if you could advise. Thanks

Answer
Hi
It's almost impossible to lose weight from specific places, if you are overweight, you will lose weight from where excess fat is stored - which tends to be abdomen and/or hips.
Lowering your calorific intake to 1000 calories a day is likely to result in you eating a severely compromised diet, which would mean you missed out on nutrients that are vital for your health. Calorific requirements for men are approximately 2500 calories and for women approximately 2000 calories a day.
To lose weight, continue eating a healthy balanced diet, do cardiovascular exercise (exercise that makes you out of breath) and reduce your consumption of sugar and saturated fat.
