In this world of "side effects" it might apply to food as well as medicine.  What might be the negative side effects of eating lots of protein in form of Egg Whites as in Egg Replacers?  Would a daily meal of egg whites with mixed vegetables and canola oil have zny negative effect on body chemistry?

Hi Willy,

Excess protein can over-work your kidneys and upset your pH balance (acid/alkaline). In general you should aim for around 55-65 grams of protein- more is not necessary for the majority of people. This is by U.S. standards, the World Health Organization puts the minimum even lower (around 45 grams).

Protein is acidic and acid forming foods should be limited to 25% of your diet. Vegetables are alkaline, such foods should make up 75-80% of your diet.

2-3 eggs in a meal is o.k., especially with vegetables. I always recommend eating the yolks as well! Egg yolks are rich in vitamins and minerals. Excessive sugar intake is more of a cholesterol promoter than egg yolks any day!

Please abstain form raw eggs. Also make sure your diet includes 2-3 servings of complex carbs and at least 5 servings of veggies plus a couple of fruits too.
