thinning hair, stress, binge eating, etc. help?

Question
hi dr. kraemer,
i'm a fourteen year old girl, but my previously thick and wavy hair is thinning, and it scares me. when i step out of the shower, my scalp is red and very flakey. i dont eat alot of meat, i absolutely love vegetables, but my weight is higher than it should be. my mom thinks i have eczema, rickets, and other things. could you please tell me what the signs of rickets and eczema are, and if i should go see my doctor about them?
thanks for your time,
   alexx.

Answer
Dear Alexx, It sounds like an allergic reaction to your shampoo, but I'm not a doctor, so make an appointment with a
skin doctor as soon as you can. Eczema and rickets are conditions that have to be diagnosed by a doctor, you can get more information on webmd.com about those conditions, so check out that website. It's a good idea to keep a food journal for a week or two so your doctor can determine if your problems are food related. Hope that helps, Laura Kraemer,Slimkids.com
