detoxification

Question
I saw a commercial about foot pads detoxifying the body. I read up on them and they don't seem to hold up. I am 19 and try to stay in good health. I was wanting to do like a detoxification diet or something, but I'm not sure where to start.

Answer
Hi Josh,

Before you consider a detox take a good look at your diet. Is it primarily healthy foods such as at least 5 fruit and veg, 9 is a good goal to shoot for. Are your carb choices whole grain, beans and veg? Do eat lean protein like fish? Drinking enough water? How about exercise, cardio and resistance (weights)? Do you try to limit junk foods, sugary drinks, white flour products and do you avoid high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated oils?

You can find a good herbal detox kit at your local health food store or on-line. I like Nature's Sunshine products. A company called Zand make a nice gentle detox kit. Arise and Shine is a great product though a little pricy.

You might want to simply use a greens product that will gently cleanse in conjunction with a healthy diet. I have a product called Complete Greens on my site if you are interested.

A good detox will last 3-7 days. Bentonite clay is a key ingredient to look for, it draws toxins out of the intestines.

Let me know if I can help further.
