Timing workout vs. eating

Question
Hi Susan,

I have been waking up and starting my workout of 50 minutes on an elliptical machine, and then a few basics like pushups and situps and some medium weights.  I then shower/clean up and eat breakfast.  Am I hurting my own diet by not eating until afterward?  I am 6'4' and 235 lbs.  I started about 3 months ago and lost 17 lbs, but have been stuck at that weight for 2 weeks.  I'd like to lose another 20.

I have been eating healthy and a good dinner the night before.

Thank you very much for your time,
David

Answer
Hi David,

If it feels good, do it. If you wake up hungry, eat a banana. Going around hungry is the worst thing to do to weight control, but if can do your routine (I am partial to resistance training once a week) without getting ravanous, it works for you.

I have blood sugar issues and eat often. I don't subscribe to must have empty stomach theory, can go for a run after a full meal IF there is 15 minutes of slow build up to full force.
