I have a few questions

Question
Hi, my name's Khayla. I'm 14 years old, weigh 210 lbs, and I have a few questions about nutrition and dieting.
I am on a diet currently. I exercise 3 to 4 times a week, really it isn't a problem now that I've gotten used to it. The problem comes in with nutrition--I'm not quite sure of what I should be doing.
Like I've cut out all sweets including sodas and certain juices (that usally contain hardly any real juice) I've cut out any cheese that isn't fat free, and no white breads. But I'm wondering if there's anything else i could possibly cut out...

I'm also worried that I'm not getting enough nutrients. I try to eat vegetables and fruits when I have the option. The problem with fruit is its getting sooo expensive and I'm in a family of 5 so you can only imagine how fast the fruit goes.
are any vitamin supplements that you recommend i should be taking at this time? Or are there any particular foods or food groups i should be eating especially?
I have juvenile rhemetoid arthritis and I read somewhere that I should be taking iron supplements too, but do you think that's right?
And I've Just gone down to 210 lbs. I like lost 20 lbs in two weeks!
Is that normal?

Thank you very much
khayla.

Answer
Hi Khayla, If you suffer from JRA, you should be asking your doctor about vitamin supplements, don't try to figure it out yourself. A cereal like Total will contain your minimum daily allowance of vitamins, so that is an option and it should be safe.
You should be eating foods from all the food groups everyday, just in smaller amounts. I think continue doing what you are doing if you are losing weight. Eat fruit, vegetables, lean meats, chicken, fish, low fat dairy, whole grain bread, and healthy fats like those in salad oils. These are the foods that make up a healthy diet. Continue your daily exercise regime and stay with your plan. Hope that helps, Laura Kraemer,Slimkids.com
